JCB announced that its “Smart Code” QR payment is now accepted at 1m+ locations. In addition, Smart Code has been integrated with the global payment network provided by Korea’s GLN International and can now handle code payment apps provided by KEB Hana Bank and KB Kokumin Bank.

Merchant stores that have introduced Smart Code will be able to handle these code payment businesses without the need for additional contracts or system operations, and can expect to capture inbound spending by travelers from South Korea.

With Smart Code, JCB provides a payment processing platform that connects code payment operators and stores, unifies merchant contracts, reducing the burden on operators and stores, and makes payments safe and secure for consumers.

Code payments can be handled at all Smart Code member stores without the need to conclude a contract with each store or develop a system. JCB unifies the conclusion of member store contracts, payment processing, and settlement between code payment operators and stores.
