Kiyo Bank implements Persefoni for greenhouse gas emission calculation
Kiyo Bank, a regional bank headquartered in Wakayama, with the support of SCSK Corporation, will begin an initiative to enhance the calculation of financed emissions (i.e., greenhouse gas emissions from the investment and loan portfolios of financial institutions) by utilizing the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions calculation platform provided by Persefoni, a company that offers a climate management and carbon accounting platform (CMAP) for enterprises, financial institutions, and government agencies.
In addressing climate change issues, financial institutions are not only required to promote their own carbon neutrality but also to understand emissions, including Scope 3, and support the decarbonization efforts of their client companies. Additionally, Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime-listed companies are obligated to disclose sustainability information, such as climate change-related data, to meet the requirements of stock markets, investors, and regulatory authorities.
Under these circumstances, Kiyo Bank will leverage Persefoni’s carbon accounting platform, which strictly adheres to international emissions calculation standards, such as the GHG Protocol and PCAF, enabling the consolidated calculation of GHG emissions for numerous investment and lending targets. By significantly improving the efficiency of the calculation process, the Bank aims to analyze and manage financed emissions more effectively and strengthen its efforts toward regional decarbonization, including considering engagement measures for investment and lending targets.
