Miyako Capital Corporation has established the “Miyako Kyoto University Innovation №3 Investment Limited Partnership” with investments from governmental funds, financial institutions and business corporations, and will continue its subscription activities aiming at a total amount of JPY 20bn.

Founded in 2013, Miyako Capital is an independent private venture capital fund management company that invests in R&D startups and supports industry-academia collaboration. The total amount under management is approximately JPY 22bn, through its first two funds, raised in November 2015 (JPY 7.33bn) and October 2019 (JPY 14.21bn), respectively.

Through investment in and support for startup companies, Miyako’s mission is to enhance the value of businesses by leveraging the “knowledge” of Kyoto University and other universities and research institutions, to promote innovation through social implementation of research results, and to contribute to the creation of new industries for the next generation.

While contributing to the development of the startup ecosystem of industry-academia collaboration in the fields of deep tech and life science, the fund aims to play an active role as a venture capital that contributes to regional revitalization and to achieve high performance not only in terms of investment returns but also in terms of social impact.
