SBI Sonpo launches car accident reporting on LINE

On January 17, 2019, SBI Sonpo (SBI General Insurance) has launched a “Car Accident Concierge” on the popular LINE chat service. By simply tapping on the “Car Accident Concierge” button within the SBI Sonpo LINE application, a dialog gets started that allows for the submission of location information and photos of the damage. Since a car accident is a stressful event, it is believed that the automatic transmission of smartphone data, such as location information, is more accurate than talking to a human being, and thus beneficial to both the customer and the insurance company.

SBI Sonpo has been offering services on LINE since December 2017, but limited to a car insurance quotation system that accepts your current insurance policy and car registration information to provide a new offer.

The next step for SBI Sonpo will most likely include the actual selling of insurance policies through this channel, just like juggernaut Sompo Holdings did in collaboration with LINE in October 2018.
