SBI Holdings forms asset management company with Franklin Templeton

SBI Holdings and Franklin Templeton have signed a definitive agreement to form a joint venture asset management company in Japan.

Under the terms of the agreement, SBI will hold a 51% stake in the Joint Venture and Franklin Templeton will hold a 49% stake. The joint venture will offer a range of investment products and services to Japanese investors, including ETFs, digital assets, and other innovative investment products.

Franklin Templeton is a global investment management organization with over US$1.6 trillion in assets under management as of June 30, 2024. The firm has been a pioneer in digital asset investing, launching the first U.S. registered mutual fund with its assets recorded on a public blockchain, followed by the launch of both a Bitcoin ETF and an Ethereum ETF.

SBI Holdings is a financial services company group based in Japan with a commitment to providing its clients with a wide range of financial products and services. SBI has been a leader in providing access to innovative investment products, including ETFs.

The formation of the Joint Venture is subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals. The parties expect the transaction to close in the first half of 2025.
