DG Financial Technology (DGFT), a payment business subsidiary of Digital Garage (DG), has launched specialized payment solutions for its cashless payment service “CloudPay Neo,” which allows end users to make payments by simply scanning a QR code with their smartphones using credit cards and various other payment methods.

As the first phase of the “CloudPay Neo” specialized payment solution, the company will offer a “Dynamic QR Code Generation Function” that generates and displays QR codes embedded with variable service fee information for field service businesses such as home appliance repair, house cleaning, and home care visits.

“CloudPay Neo” is a cashless payment service that allows end users to make easy payments with credit cards and various code payment methods simply by scanning a QR code displayed by a merchant using their smartphone camera app and entering the displayed payment amount.

This service is highly regarded by businesses that face challenges such as “inability to prepare and arrange payment terminals,” “inconvenience of carrying terminals,” and “desire to reduce terminal management costs,” as it allows end users to use various payment methods including credit cards, various code payments such as PayPay, and score-based post-payment (provided by DGFT’s subsidiary, SCORE) on their smartphones.

Previously, end users had to scan a QR code and manually enter the payment amount, which carried the risk of input errors.

With this function, businesses can generate and display QR codes with individual payment amounts, etc. on their business terminals, etc. by utilizing the CloudPay Neo management screen or API. This eliminates the need for end users to input the payment amount, enabling accurate and speedy payments, and reducing costs as it eliminates the need for new terminal preparation as the function can be added to existing business terminals.

Future Prospects

While the cashless payment ratio in Japan is increasing, non-cashless payments still account for 60% of domestic payments. For more than 90% of SMBs in Japan, DX in the area of payments is an urgent management issue as human resource shortages and productivity improvement become more important with the digitalization of end users.

Against this backdrop, CloudPay Neo is developing functions that will improve business efficiency and reduce costs for businesses, mainly SMBs. The company plans to offer services such as a “subscription function” for recurring billing and an “email transmission function” that sends out individual invoices by email.

In addition, DGFT will collaborate with partners to promote DX in the area of payments, providing payment solutions by industry not only to visiting service businesses, but also to markets with a large number of non-cash transactions, such as cram schools and kindergartens/nursery schools for SMBs (market size: approximately 2.5 trillion yen), vending machines (market size: approximately 2 trillion yen), and amusement facilities including game centers (market size: approximately 400 billion yen), for a total estimated market size of approximately 9 trillion yen.

DGFT will continue to contribute to the development of a sustainable society as an infrastructure business that combines payment, data, and technology under the Group strategy “DG FinTech Shift”.
