How to bridge tokens to Avalanche?
Bridging To Avalanche from Ethereum
The Avalanche Bridge can be used to transfer ERC-20 tokens from Ethereum to Avalanche’s C-Chain.
Connect your wallet using one of the available wallet plugins.
If you have not yet set up Metamask for Avalanche, read this guide.
Once you have successfully connected your wallet, you need to switch your wallet provider to the network which holds the tokens you wish to bridge. There are numerous networks that allow bridging to and from Avalanche but for this guide we are using the Avalanche bridge from Ethereum to Avalanche. Check that the From tab shows Ethereum, otherwise press the blue Switch button in the center of the screen and follow the prompts provided by the wallet plugin.
Select any of the bridgeable assets in which you have a balance and enter the amount to bridge.
Click Transfer and sign the transaction.
Wait for the transaction to complete. This can take up to 30 minutes, but typically only takes approximately 8 minutes on the Ethereum chain and 1 minute on the Avalanche chain.
You have successfully bridged your ERC-20 tokens to Avalanche!
Notes
- Transfers must be the wrapped version of ERC20 assets, this means WETH and WBTC.
- If transferring more than $75, the bridge will airdrop 0.05 AVAX. This helps new users who would otherwise be “out-of-gas” Thank you Avalanche!
- Bridge transfers go from the senders wallet address to the same address on the other network.
- Only select ERC20 tokens can be transferred across the avalanche bridge. While this selection is limited there are other bridges such as Multichain that allow various other tokens and other chains to bridge.
AVAX tokens can be purchased on many of the centralized exchanges including Binance and KuCoin.
