It’s been 2 years since the completion of the TomoChain ICO, and we are now on the cusp of launching a slew of exciting products geared towards mass-market use. Punctuating this new era for TomoChain and the community is the unveiling of a refreshed logo to carry us forward together.

Presenting the new TomoChain Logo! Clean. Clear. Vibrant.

But, before we get too far ahead of ourselves, let’s take a look back to understand why this is the right time for a new look.

“ETH Killer” is so Last Decade

Through the end of 2018, TomoChain was known as THE blockchain technology that would be far more scalable and efficient to break down the doors of Ethereum’s shortcomings. And, we owned this narrative, proving it only 9 months after the completion of the ICO when the TomoChain Mainnet launched.

As 2019 progressed the TomoChain Mainnet stabilized, and a surge of major partnerships were formed alongside quality exchange listings. Businesses adopted TomoChain, Dapps launched, tens-of-thousands of users transacted on our blockchain, and we were being featured in high profile media spots. TomoChain was moving at such a fast pace that even we could not have anticipated it.

However, navigating through TomoChain’s burgeoning wealth of products, services, and documentation quickly became cumbersome. The challenging discovery process certainly did not reflect our nimble startup in the best light possible.

TomoChain also needed a hard shift away from the Ethereum “Killer” moniker towards what TomoChain actually is today — a stable and credible blockchain platform enabling businesses with core protocols built for mass adoption.

So, we began overhauling the website, descriptions, and materials in a way that would be sustainable for TomoChain’s next stage of development.

And, the new TomoChain logo ties these efforts together. It is the embodiment of our successes over the last 2 years and projects forward a continued commitment to redefining financial freedom through the power of decentralization.

Reflecting on the OG Favorite

We aren’t forgetting about the Logo that we all grew to know and care for. It carried us through the good times and the challenging ones. Here is a celebratory look at the OG favorite.

The original TomoChain logo was cleverly designed. The outer rim resembled that of a physical coin. The “t” in the center marked the ‘TOMO’ currency symbol, which was enclosed inside of a subtle “C,” standing for ‘Chain’.

Everything came together with a warm color palette of oranges and yellows.

Internally, there has always been a fondness for the design alongside playful jokes about its passing comparison to that of the MasterChef logo. Don’t look or you won’t be able to unsee it. 😉

We had created all kinds of fun merchandise and memorabilia around the logo, from the stylish galactic stickers of astronauts and moons to the plush TomoRocket.

And, the community went crazy with some of the most creative stickers and GIFs. Here are just a few of those fun designs.

A New Logo Defining Blockchain’s Future

Maturing into a global blockchain brand is a process, one that requires us to constantly evaluate industry trends and market fit. Refreshing the TomoChain logo was about communicating this focus through a cleaner, minimalistic design — with a dash of fresh color. Let’s break down a few areas we wanted to address.

Removing Token Iconography. 2017–2018 was a popular time to identify crypto with currency symbolism, images of rockets, and to-the-moon memes. Though fond of those memories, we removed the token from the logo in order to position TomoChain as a maturing blockchain technology solution for both DeFi and commercial businesses.

Just the “T”. We simplified the logo to focus on one identifiable letter that is easy to spot. Nothing extra.

2 Colors. No Gradient. The choice of distinct colors allows for a wider range of applications across different physical and digital designs. The color green, specifically, reflects on a company credo towards sustainability that matches TomoChain’s use of an eco-friendly PoS consensus mechanism.

You’ll be seeing the new logo’s influence across iconography for TomoChain’s various products and protocols. And then there are some of our core properties, but we will let you discover all of that for yourself.
