It’s been a looong time since we filmed lessons with our good friend and shredding Texan Joseph Palmer! In fact, Joseph was one of our very first artists on tonebase, and his lessons played an important role in getting tonebase to what it is now. In the post below, learn about the new course he just recently filmed for us and why he truly deserves a day off!

This past weekend was a marathon for Joseph! We scheduled a full, two-day shoot with him to create a course on (drum roll…) the 120 Giuliani Arpeggios!!

The first day began by filming 14 instructional videos on right hand fundamentals which will make up the opening section of the course. In this series of lessons, Joseph shows you everything you need to know to play all 120 arpeggios yourself, starting with basic hand positioning and gradually working up to arpeggios with all four fingers. In addition, Joseph shares his approach to essential techniques such as planting and string crossing. Overall, a complete and comprehensive course on right hand technique!

However, at that point, he was just getting started… The second day turned into an intense 7 hour filming session recording the ENTIRE SET of 120 arpeggios — they even went straight through lunch in order to finish in time!

At the conclusion of this undertaking, Joseph told us he is incredibly happy with the results. We can’t wait to get this course edited, published, and playing on your screen at home! In the meantime, check out Joseph’s “OG tonebase lessons” on the music of Scarlatti and Villa-Lobos as well as topics such as cross-string trills and strumming.
