Over the past few months, we have been producing close to a dozen lessons to release altogether under a theme called “The Golden Age Of Guitar.” Read on to learn more about this inspirational period of guitar literature and get a preview of the many lessons that will all be available in early December!

During the 19th century, the solo classical guitar gained unprecedented popularity. Today this period is commonly referred to as “The Golden Age.

Virtuosos like Mauro Giuliani, Luigi Legnani, and Fernando Sor hit the scene bringing much needed attention to the instrument. It was during this outpouring of works for the guitar that some of our most canonic pieces were written, many of which are still widely performed today.

From a pedagogical perspective, this period of time was invaluable. With the growth in popularity of the guitar, a wealth of Etudes emerged to help students master the instrument.

From the simple arpeggio studies of Giuliani which Pepe Romero still swears by for warming up, to Sor’s studies frequently used as concert repertoire, the pedagogical material from this period are incredibly helpful tools to refine your playing abilities.

They also provide an excellent source of inspiration if you’re looking for progressive repertoire with specific musical and technical challenges to work on with your students.

This December, we will be releasing a dozen lessons all under this theme of “The Golden Age Of Guitar.” There will be lessons for players of every skill level and insights from a wide range of tonebase artists including Andrea González Caballero, Petrit Çeku, Kupinski Duo, and many more!
