Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Geophysic True Second

Since we launched Toolwatch.io (you can find the full story here!), we’ve been constantly listening to our users and improving the service. While we learnt after launching a poll that ours users were massively requesting a mobile app (which we are working on, more on that soon!) we have still been working on the web app to provide the best experience possible for watch lovers around the world. Today, we are proud to announce a new release with a lot of fixes and improvements which we wanted to showcase here !

New input : Before you had 5 secs countdown and we asked you to enter the precise time of your watch using a 24h format. This alone was source of discrepancies and hindered the precisions of your measures. Moreover, if the exact time was something like 9:20:17 it was difficult to be 100% accurate because most timepieces have markers for each five seconds. Finally, the parallax effect wasn’t doing any good to the accuracy of your measures either. With this new sync system, we only have to press one button when the seconds hand reaches the 12-oclock position. It’s that easy !

You can’t miss that button !

Emailing : We have dramatically improved how our automatic emails work. Before, when you started your first measure, you had a mail 24 hours later inviting you to check your measure. If you had a few watches and measured them at the same time, you would have received many “24 hour emails”. Now we have grouped those email notifications! Also, you received this email whether or not you did your second measure. Sorry :( We have also added a recap dashboard of your current measures at the end of each measure. This will make it easier to know each time in a glance the accuracy of your whole collection.

Quick signup : We removed all unnecessary fields and added as optional all other fields. We wanted to make the signup as smooth as possible.

Homepage : We removed the autoscroll (yes, it was horrible!) of the homepage along as making it way quicker to load (-60% in loading time).

Autocompletion : Now, when you add a watch, you won’t have to type all the brand’s name (unless you’re on some very exotic watch hype !). The autocompletion also works with the model’s name!

Now these are pretty cool watch brands !

Edit of watches : Now your watch’s information can be edited. We had numerous users that didn’t know what type of caliber they had when adding the watch and not being able to enter the information afterwards. This is now possible !

Time and moonphase information : We added this functionality to help our users setting the exact time as well as their moonphase. This was requested a lot as well.

Yeah ! It’s full moon today !!

Infoporn : Now, each time you measure a watch, you can know how it competes versus all other measured watch. We receive at least one mail per week asking for this feature and we will give you more infoporn in the upcoming months.

These are the main features, there were also many other behind the scene fixes we hope you will enjoy.

As I mentioned, we are working a lot on the mobile app. You can join this private group on Facebook if you want to help us with the beta and get early access ! See you there :)

Have I also said that we share our best watch tips on the Toolwatch blog for helping you taking care of your mechanical watches ?

Thanks for reading this and feel free to share your thoughts on this new version on @Toolwatchapp, we’d love to hear from you.

Take care of yourself and of your mechanical watches and see you soon on the new Toolwatch.io!
