14% of employed young people in Japan have cryptocurrencies

A survey conducted by the online magazine Shin R25, showed that 14% of men, young people and employees in Japan from 25 to 30 years old, have cryptocurrencies. The survey was titled “Questionnaire on Virtual Currency”, and counted on more than 4 thousand participants from all over the country, who were interviewed between January 25 to March 2018.

According to the survey, more than a quarter of respondents who have cryptocurrency said that this was their first investment experience. Among those 14% who own the digital coins, 92% said they bought “by investment”, 37.4% bought to “follow the trend of the moment” and 19.9% invested by “knowledge and information recommended by the media” .

The value of the investments is varied. Among those interviewed who have the cryptocurrencies, 34.5% of them have less than 50,000 yen (an average of US$469) and 10.2% have more than 1 million yen (US $ 9,300). Most participants bought the coins between October and December 2017.

Regarding future investments, 47% of respondents stated that they would like to invest actively in the coming years and 35% said they do not intend to continue investing.
