Can reasonable people consider the Bible to be the inspired Word of God?

Can the Bible possibly be the inspired “Word of God”? Can a book so filled with contradictions, inconsistencies, outright scientific and historical errors be seriously considered as authoritative in any sense? Can a person claim to take the Bible seriously and base his or her life and beliefs on it and still be considered a reasonable and intelligent person?
