3 Things We Learnt From Man United Vs Spurs

And then some more!

Back 5’s Back

I’m not saying the back 5 is a terrible system, but not even having Telles on the bench in a supposedly attacking wingback system just does not make sense to me. Maybe he’s trying to take a leaf out of Conte’s book, but only time will tell.

The Wan Bissaka Show

Probably the last player you’d expect to excel in the wingback system, but Aaron’s proved them wrong. Constantly made both underlapping and overlapping attacking runs, and then tracks back to make a world-class last-ditch tackle. And no this isn’t recency bias, check out my article for United Vs Villa if you feel so.

With Ronnie, You’re Never Out

In the previous article, I wrote that Ronaldo needs to be told to start pressing from the front. What does Ole do? He brings Cavani into the team to do the pressing for him. And then of course, with Ronaldo, you can always expect a bit of magic, and boy did he deliver. A lovely cross from Bruno was met with a superb volley to end United’s goalless streak.

Ronaldo X Cavani

Be disciplined out of possession. Let Bruno, Ronaldo and Cavani do what they do best in possession. Spurs’ backline was all over the place, and they took full advantage. Class meets class and football meets net.

Ole Planning for City

Park the bus, hope Varane puts in another standout performance, use Rashford’s pace and Ronaldo’s quality on the break. This is probably gonna be the game plan against Manchester City and you can’t blame him for that, can you?

What’s Happened to Harry Kane?

Can any Spur’s fan let me know how Harry Kane goes from top scorer and top assister to this? Yes, he didn’t get his move to City, but surely you can’t become so poor all of a sudden? Let me know in the comment’s below.

What now for Ole?

Is this going to be a flashback to last season in which we have a good run, then a bad run, then play defensive, grind out results, and then end up winning nothing or could this finally be the year? 74 million for Jadon Sancho, there’s no way he’s going to play in this system. What has Donny got to do to get any game time? How long can a 36-year-old Ronaldo keep on getting us out of crunch situations? Can McFred play this well every time? There are a lot of questions that remain unanswered, and this win only begins to paper over those many cracks.
