Remember back in 2016 when Leicester City won the British Premier League (BPL)? Remember the glory we all felt in the success of the previously demoted club climbing the ranks, achieving what no one thought possible. Football supporters around the world admired the small club outperforming the Goliaths of the league. Even if your club was being outmatched by the Foxes, you could recognize their tenacity and resilience as laudable. When an underdog succeeds, it exemplifies the magic of football.
Now imagine that there are no longer any underdogs, just Goliaths? Would you still watch?

Supporters no longer find the same rich clubs winning every season entertaining. And that’s why these European Super League club owners are breaking away from their respective leagues. These owners can’t accept the fact that smaller clubs are making money off of their coattails.
The clubs currently involved include Real Madrid and Barcelona in Spain; Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham in England; and Juventus and A.C. Milan in Italy.
