Barcelona have plans to release many players such as Philippe Coutinho , Ivan Rakitic, Junior Firpo and Arturo Vidal from their squad to raise sufficient funds for the upcoming transfer window.

Quique Setien has decided get rid of Ousmane Dembele in order to gain sufficient funds to bring Lautaro Martinez and Neymar to Barcelona. Even though the expensive duo’s transfers are currently being negotiated, the Spanish giants have started scouting for alternatives to sign in case the club isn’t able to sign their primary transfer targets.

The defending La Liga champions have many offensive players such as Luis Suarez, Ansu Fati, Lionel Messi, Antoine Griezmann, Ousmane Dembele and Martin Braithwaite in their squad. In order to add offensive depth and cover to their older players, Barcelona’s management has decided to sell the former Borussia Dortmund man for 53 million euros in the upcoming transfer window since he is doing no good to them and hasn’t done much in the last two years.

Ousmane Dembele has failed to live up to his price point of 135 million euros after being signed from Borussia Dortmund in 2017. The 23-year-old Frenchman has displayed awful fitness and form which has resulted in him scoring 12 league goals over the past three seasons. Despite portraying such terrible form and injury issues, Dembele has received interest from Arsenal and Manchester United who are willing to give him an opportunity to revive his career as stated by The Sun.

There are rumours that the World Cup winner is tempted to join Manchester United and has shown signs that he is keen to play alongside his fellow countryman Anthony Martial. However as of now none of the English clubs have submitted a transfer offer and are waiting for the French playmaker to recover from his hamstring injury.

On the flipside, Arsenal are also keen on signing Ousmane Dembele as Mikel Arteta eyes an ambitious revamp of his squad. Stan Kroenke has promised a lucrative investment into the club to make up for the lost finances, and hence, the Gunners could be in a stable financial condition to spend 53 million euros on the France international.

Mikel Arteta would like to have an experienced winger in the squad considering the huge amount of youngsters but players with no experience. While the former Manchester City assistant coach has a long-term prospect, it is difficult to see a failing club do any good to Dembele’s career and thus, it’s better he chooses the Old Trafford as its destination.

Selling Dembele will give the Barcelona the ability to sign long term replacements for Sergio Busquets and Gerard Pique who are playing in one of their last few seasons at the Camp Nou.

The Blaugrana could alternatively try and include Dembele as part of their ongoing transfer negotiations to sign Neymar and Lautaro Martinez even though it’s highly unlikely that Paris Saint-Germain or Inter Malian will be interested in the French playmaker.

What do you feel Barca should do with Dembele in the upcoming transfer window?
