Success of Manchester United is not dependent on Cristiano Ronaldo
A player needs a club to rise and shine in football, but a club doesn’t need a single player to arise. This is the story of one of the greatest football players in history, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Manchester United’s future with or without him.
On 2nd July, Cristiano Ronaldo told Manchester United he wanted to leave because he wanted to play Champions League football next season, which is impossible with Red Devils. Ronaldo does not believe the club can win the Premier League next season, United is still hoping to persuade the 37-year-old to stay, but things became heated when he did not accompany the team on a preseason tour.
On the 12th of July, Erik ten hag and company started their preseason tour with a four-nil win against Liverpool at Rajamangala Stadium, Thailand, and won their preseason Centenary Cup. On the 15th of July, they traveled to Melbourne, Australia, and defeated Melbourne Victory. Erik ten Hag used every available player in those two games and was still learning new things.
After beating Liverpool Erik ten hag stated that:

The main thing we noticed in Manchester United’s game after years is “Aggression.” In their last two games, Man Utd has shown a lot of aggression both in and out of possession.
Ten hag has improved United’s overlapping and underlapping runs; fullbacks frequently overlap and offer forwards with inside underlapping runs. This allows attacking players to get into those small spaces and create scoring opportunities.
The defenders were seen taking a lot of risks in the last two games because both center-backs were pulling out so wide, and central midfielders were dropping back to form a three-man wall at the back. However, it’s still too early to make a decision because there were a lot of substitutions made in those two games.
Now it clearly indicates that this new Manchester United is talking real business in the game; Ronaldo’s decision to leave the club must have jeopardized many plans of the new manager, as it was previously stated by Ten Hag that “Ronaldo is not for sale; he is in our plans.” It is clear that Ten Hag wanted Ronaldo in his squad and wanted to collaborate with the Portuguese superstar.
Manchester United needed a proper striker after losing Mason Greenwood, and they expected Ronaldo to fill that role between Rashford and Sancho. Still, Ronaldo preferred Champions League football over Man Utd Jersey, the club that raised him and made him the CR7. Cristiano knew in February that Manchester United would not be able to qualify for the Champions League the following season.
However, his late declaration that he wants to play for a Champions League-qualified team broke many Manchester United fans’ hearts. It makes no difference if he returns and joins the team; he disrespected the club.
Erik ten hag and his boys have already stepped up to replace many big names, so this United does not need a superstar to bring them silverware. Cristiano will be back in the team because no club is interested in buying him, but Manchester United will be a fantastic team next season ‘note my words,’ whether Ronaldo comes or not.
