Every year since 1985 (WrestleMania 1) the WWE hosts wrestlings' biggest show of the year, WrestleMania. WrestleMania is the “show of all wrestling shows”. It’s the most important and marketed pay-per-view of the year for the company. It’s a time when The WWE Universe (WWE fans) are at the edge of their seats waiting in anticipation, as the company puts together a match card that will have us raving about it for years to come.

WrestleMania is a lifestyle for many WWE fans, all across the world, who travel to the city in which it is being held. It’s a genius annual WWE tradition that was adopted by the great Vincent Kennedy McMahon, the company’s Chairman, and CEO.

The McMahon empire in the wrestling and entertainment business has largely been built on the mainstream success of WrestleMania. WrestleMania is like the Superbowl of the NFL. The Championship for the NBA, and the Stanley Cup for the NHL.

WrestleMania’s importance to the WWE’s fans, employees, and performers can’t be understated. Every year has had its unique storylines, rivalries, and superstars that are on the rise. It’s a time where we could see the new coronation of a new superstar of the future and for current stars to continue dominating.

This year, Roman Reigns headlines the Main Event as he looks to retain his Universal Title, and is unquestionably the companies top star and draw. With all this in mind, I’ll be giving an honest review on every match on the WrestleMania match card and rating on a scale of 1–10 (1 being the worst grade, 10 being the best grade).

Please note that only the match card will be reviewed. Any miscellaneous non-wrestling match performances, such as backstage interviews, superstar promos, etc., will not be reviewed. Each match will be reviewed in the order in which it is presented on the show (from first to last/Main Event).

Day 1 of WrestleMania 37:

Opening Match — WWE Championship Match: Drew McIntyre vs. Bobby Lashley (WWE Champion)

1. Opening Match — WWE Championship Match: Drew McIntyre vs. Bobby Lashley (WWE Champion)

So the very first match of WrestleMania 37 and day 1, is for the WWE Championship. It’s pretty unusual to have the opening match be for the WWE Championship. This one isn’t surprising though. Fans weren’t chomping at the bit to see this match. But the crowd was surprisingly live and loud for this one. A couple of close two counts by both Lashley and Drew but neither could put each other away.

Lashley was finally able to put away Drew McIntyre with the Hurt Lock. McIntyre didn’t tap out, but he wasn’t answering the referee’s check-ins so the match was stopped and Lashley retains.

Admittingly, this match was much better than I thought it would be and Bobby Lashley makes the WWE Title look legit. With this win, Lashley brings some needed prestige back to the WWE Championship.

Result: Bobby Lashley retains the WWE Championship

Tag Team Turmoil: The Riott Squad vs. Lana and Naomi vs. Dana Brooke and Mandy Rose vs. Natalya and Tamina

2. Tag Team Turmoil: The Riott Squad (Ruby Riott & Liv Morgan) vs. Lana and Naomi vs. Dana Brooke and Mandy Rose vs. Natalya and Tamina

This felt like a filler match. Not something you want or care to see at Wrestlemania. The only noteworthy thing that happened was Mandy Rose’s botched entrance. The crowd was dead for this one. However, The Riott Squad was very impressive. The two-lady tag team displayed a variety of exciting moves and great athleticism.

Still, they weren’t able to hold off the fresher tag team of Natalya and Tamina, as The Riott Squad was exhausted. Natalya and Tamina win to earn themselves a match on day 2 against Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax, for the Women’s Tag Team Championship.

Result: Natalya and Tamina win and earn a Women’s Tag Team Title shot on Day 2 of Wrestlemania 37

Seth Rollins vs. Cesaro WWE WrestleMania 37 Results — Reviews on Every Match

3. Seth Rollins vs. Cesaro

After the boring previous match, Cesaro and Seth Rollins deliver here. Cesaro gets his “WrestleMania moment” and he looked cool doing it. The crowd was once again reinvigorated into the event and loud during this match.

Cesaro set his record of swings (23) on Seth Rollins. It was a great match and the right man won. It will be exciting to see what's in store for Cesaro next.

Result: Cesaro defeats Seth Rollins by pinfall

Raw Tag Team Championship Match A.J. Styles and Omos vs. The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) (C)— WWE WrestleMania 37 Results — Reviews on Every Match

4. Raw Tag Team Championship Match: A.J. Styles and Omos vs. The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) (C)

The mystic of and anticipation of Omos’ in-ring debut kept me at the edge of my seat. Styles starts off the match while Omos waits in the corner for his turn. Styles struggles to get free from Kofi and Xavier and you start to wonder when will we see Omos finally get tagged into the match?

Well, Styles finally made the “hot” tag to his 7'3 monster partner, and what a day view it was. Omos power slams Kofi Kingston then steps on him for the pin. 1–2–3. Omos and AJ Styles are your new WWE Tag Team Champions. It was a quick match but a nice finish and a powerful and impactful debut of Omos.

Result: A.J. Styles and Omos defeat The New Day and are the new WWE Raw Tag Team Champions

Steel Cage Match: Braun Stroman vs. Shane McMahon

5. Steel Cage Match: Braun Stroman vs. Shane McMahon

Even though we knew what the outcome of this match would be, it was still somewhat entertaining. Shane and Stroman have a huge high spot (literally) at the top of the Steel Cage. Stroman gets hit over the head with a briefcase and falls back inside the ring, yet Shane still failed to escape the cage.

Stroman quickly recovered and broke the inside of the cage to drag Shane back inside, and then threw him from the top of the cage. Stroman hits his power slam finisher and Shane is down for the 3-count. Solid match nothing special.

Result: Braun Stroman defeats Shane McMahon by pinfall

Bad Bunny and Damian Priest vs. The Miz and John Morrison

6. Bad Bunny and Damian Priest vs. The Miz and John Morrison

The opening entrances were awful. The match even more so. I feel bad for the Miz. The guy has a great look, is very funny, and entertaining but is subjected to this type of clownery. The match lasted much longer than it should’ve and Bad Bunny isn’t a professional wrestler so there's no reason for this match to have been very competitive, let alone for him to pin The Miz.

This is your typical gimmick celebrity match to draw a crowd. I get it. However, performers like Bayley and others didn’t work blood sweat, and tears to perform on the mat of WrestleMania to have their spot taken by a non-wrestler. As you can tell, I’m not a fan of celebrity matches. It takes away the credibility of the rest of the roster. Unpopular opinion, but I wasn’t a fan of this match at all.

Result: Bad Bunny and Damian Priest defeat The Miz and John Morrison

Main Event — Smackdown Woman’s Championship Match: Bianca Belair vs. Sasha Banks (Smackdown Women’s Champion)

7. Main Event — Smackdown Woman’s Championship Match: Bianca Belair vs. Sasha Banks (Smackdown Women’s Champion)

Easily the best match of the night and the right choice as the Main Event for day 1 of WrestleMania 37. Belair gets her WretssleMania correnation and desversdly so. She’s a fantastic performer. Sasha Banks also helped steal the show, with her array of exciting moves. This is the perfect match to send the fans home happy and look forward to day 2.

Result: Bianca Belair defeats Sasha Banks and is the new Smackdown Women’s Champion

Day 2 of WrestleMania 37:

The Fiend vs. Randy Orton
Photo Credit: WWE — Edited with Photoshop Express

1. The Fiend vs. Randy Orton

The Fiend’s entrance was epic. Great visual. The lighting of the match made it feel special. The match though was very confusing, at least the ending was. Alexa Bliss seemingly turned on Bray Wyatt, distracted him and Randy subsequently finished him with an RKO out of nowhere. I don’t know how to feel about this somewhat mysterious and confusing ending but it was entertaining nonetheless.

Result: Randy defeats The Fiend by pinfall

Time: 5:50

Women’s Tag Team Championship: Natalya and Tamina vs. Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler (C)

2. Women’s Tag Team Championship: Natalya and Tamina vs. Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler (C)

Interesting match. Natalya isn’t very good. Her partner, Tamina, yeah she is good. Tamina had the crowd at Raymond James Stadium on its feet, as they chanted her name. The finish of this match was surprising.

It felt like Tamina and Natalya would beat Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler. Instead, Natalya puts the Sharpshooter on Nia, while Baszler puts a submission hold of her own on Natalya and makes her tap out.

Result: Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler defeat Natalya and Tamina to retain the Women’s Tag Team Championship

Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn
Photo Credit: WWE — Edited with Photoshop Express

3. Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn

Zayn enters first. Logan Paul is the honorary guest of Zayn. The crowd was hot for Kevin Owens from the moment his music hit. I'm not a fan of either superstar so I don’t care for this feud or who wins. It was still a good match though.

I’m happy that Owens won. He’s the better of the two in my opinion. I’m also happy that this was a relatively quick match. Owens hits Sami with two superkicks at the end and then finishes him off with a stunner. 1–2–3. Owens wins.

After the match, Zayn is upset with his guest Logan Paul accusing him of conspiring with the Referee. Logan Paul pushes Zayn out of the ring and celebrates with Kevin Owens as he raises Owens’ hands in victory. The crowd immediately booed Logan Paul. Kevin Owens then gives Logan Paul a Stunner out of nowhere, much to the delight of myself and the live crowd. This was pretty awesome!

Result: Kevin Owens defeats Sami Zayn by pinfall

United States Championship Match: Sheamus vs. Riddle (C)

4. United States Championship Match: Sheamus vs. Riddle (C)

Not the most entertaining match. Sheamus is always a solid performer though and he delivered a well-timed brogue kick on Riddle to become the new United States Champion.

Result: Sheamus defeats Riddle to become the new United State Champion

Intercontientenal Championship — Nigerian Drum Fight: Big E (C) vs. Apollo Crews

5. Intercontientenal Championship — Nigerian Drum Fight: Big E (C) vs. Apollo Crews

Wale makes a cool special appearance for Big E’s entrance. A good match. Big E hit his finisher after Apollo Crews fails to hit a frog splash off the top rope on Big E, who was on a table and moved out the way.

Dabba-Kato interrupts the pin, out of nowhere by Big E, and chokeslams him. He then drags Apollo Crews on top of Big E for the pinfall. Apollo Crew wins and gets his WrestleMania moment and a big win here. A very quick but impressive ending to the match.

Result: Apollo Crews defeats Big E to become the new Intercontinental Champion

Grade: 6.5

Raw Women’s Championship Match: Asuka (C) vs. Rhea Ripley

6. Raw Women’s Championship Match: Asuka (C) vs. Rhea Ripley

Both women had great entrances. The match begins and Rhea Ripley is dominating. Asuka fights back though and hits Ripley with a flying leg drop from the top rope. Ripley returns the favor and leg drops Asuka while she was on the top rope, and out of the ring she went. The two get back in the ring, trade, and counter submission holds. Ripley gets an opening and hits her finisher to win the Women’s Championship

Result: Rhea Ripley defeats Asuka to become the new Women’s Champion

Time: 13:30

Grade: 6

Main Event — Universal Championship Match: Daniel Bryan vs. Edge vs. Roman Reigns (C)
Photo Credit: WWE — Edited with Photoshop Express

7. Main Event — Universal Championship Match: Daniel Bryan vs. Edge vs. Roman Reigns (C)

This was one of the best Wrestlemania Main Events in history. Wow! If you’re a WWE fan and missed this match, I recommend you go back and watch the rewind. It’s worth your while. What made this match so great was the unpredictability. It was hard to tell who would win the match. Each man clobbered the other and had their fair share of exciting moments.

In the end, though, Roman Reigns retains the Championship. The ending was fantastic. Roman hits Edge over the head with a chair while Edge was lying on the chair. He then drags Edge on top of Daniel Bryan and pins them both for the 1–2–3 count. This match stole the show and was the right choice to close out and Main Event WrestleMania 37.

Result: Roman Reigns retains the Universal Championship
