TOP AMA Recap with Crypto Moon Shoot Community
Part One
Could you tell our group members a bit about the TOP AI Network?
Stella: TOP AI Network is an L1 blockchain that employs sharding technology and a three-layer network, supporting real business with high transaction throughput, high speed, and low fees. This year, TOP AI Network has initiated the development in AI, aiming to serve thousands of AI applications by bringing decentralized and censorship-resistant model and computing power services to the blockchain.
TOP AI Network evolved from TOP Network — what is your current objective, and what are the key challenges you’re focused on addressing?
Stella: Our current goal is to bring censorship-resistant models and computing power to the industry and to more AI application developers, ultimately enabling everyone to have their own model.
Models are crucial tools for enhancing productivity in the future because they serve as versatile solutions that can carry vast amounts of knowledge and experience data through deep learning and deliver answers in a simple Q&A format. This is a vast market, but many current model needs are difficult to address through centralized model service providers due to the numerous obstacles with their services.
Regarding your newly launched litepaper, could you briefly explain the current pain points in the AI industry and how TOP AI Network is positioned to solve them?
Stella: The following obstacles are ones we’ve identified in the current AI industry and seek to resolve:
Due to censorship restrictions, users are unable to freely use models; models are overly generalized and struggle to meet customized needs. Additionally, when individuals or enterprises train models, there is a risk of core data being leaked or shared. We believe that adopting a decentralized approach is the right choice.
Therefore, we have introduced an AI shard on the TOP AI Network to create a decentralized AI model sharding network. This not only thoroughly solves the issue of model censorship, ensuring freedom and diversity in model usage, but also significantly reduces the cost of model computing power by introducing decentralized incentives.
With the addition of a new AI shard to your structure, can you introduce us the new participants and explain their impact to TOP chain?
Stella: Previously, the TOP chain only had one EVM shard and four normal shards. With the addition of the AI shard, a significant amount of high-frequency real-world business will be introduced, and the active roles within this shard will differ from those in other shards. Technically speaking, the AI shard will feature a dedicated model hosting and computing power scheduling system, primarily serving three roles within the AI industry:
1. AI Application Developers: They can utilize any model published on TOP AI without any review or permission restrictions.
2. Model Providers: They can freely publish their models on TOP AI and receive on-chain incentives.
3. Computing Nodes: By providing high-performance computing power to run AI models, they can receive miner incentives and additional subsidies from the foundation during the first five years after launch.
The introduction of real-world business activities will drive the growth of the TOP AI chain ecosystem and promote the prosperity of other shards. The EVM shard, in particular, plays a significant role as it connects TOP AI to external EVM ecosystems, ensuring that TOP AI is no longer an isolated L1 chain.
Could you outline the routine for AI services on the TOP chain? Are there any additional incentives for being a computing node on the TOP chain?
Stella: The service process on the AI shard is mainly divided into five stages, which I will briefly outline:
· Model Providers Upload Models: Model providers upload their models to the shard.
· System Verifies Model Legitimacy: The system verifies the legality of the uploaded models.
· Request for Model Usage: If there is a demand for model usage, the system handles the scheduling of inference tasks and the allocation of computing resources.
· Execution by Computing Nodes: Upon receiving the task, the computing nodes execute the computation, validate the results, and store them.
· Results Returned: The results are then returned to the AI application developers.
After the establishment of the AI shard, computing nodes will occupy a significant portion of mining output. For a similar project, io.net can be used as a reference; it uses different GPUs as billing units and offers two types of income: online duration mining and task-based payments. Additionally, we will provide another type of income based on task mining rewards.
Part Two: Questions from X
Does TOP have any recent market plans? Will you attend the Token 2049 event?
Stella: TOP AI has completed its brand upgrade, and the future development direction has been largely determined. We will be more involved in community and offline events, including Token 2049, focusing on brand exposure and establishing connections with more industry partners. Additionally, we will engage in more activities with industry partners to expand our influence among crypto users.
Are there any new features or products launching soon? What kind of events will you hold?
Stella: If you’ve been following our GitHub updates, you may have noticed that we’ve open-sourced quite a few projects this year.
Among them are two ecosystem applications that we are about to launch on the EVM shard: a cross-chain bridge and a DEX. Many of you might be more familiar with the cross-chain bridge, as we previously held a Bounty Hunt event during its testing phase.
With Ethereum’s significant Cancun upgrade, we’ve upgraded our infrastructure accordingly. We’re now in the final stages of preparation, and these applications will soon be officially launched. We’ll also be organizing specific launch events, so be sure to follow our social media accounts for the latest updates. All new information will be posted there.
For regular users, how can they maximize their returns as voters? Do you have any good suggestions?
Stella: In the current economic model of TOP AI, 20% of the tokens are distributed based on user staking. Our staking mechanism involves two steps.
First, users need to convert their TOP tokens into tickets based on different lock-up periods — the longer the lock-up period, the more tickets they receive. Second, users can then vote for nodes with their tickets, allowing them to receive daily rewards.
From this process, it’s clear that the longer you’re willing to lock up your TOP tokens, the more tickets you’ll receive, which in turn will enable you to earn higher rewards.
What advantages does the TOP chain have compared to other Layer 1 blockchains?
Stella: Our project has transitioned from a high-performance public blockchain project to a new AI-focused direction, giving the technical highlights we previously emphasized even greater value. In TOP AI, the underlying blockchain consensus and the scheduling of model computing power are separated at the business layer. While other Layer 1 blockchains tend to emphasize universal functionalities, we focus more on practical business applications. This is because, whether in terms of miner support or AI model business support, we have our own closely integrated partners.
What are the requirements for running a computing node on the AI shard of the TOP chain? Can earnings be guaranteed?
To run a computing node on the AI shard, we have tentatively set the minimum GPU specification at the 2080 series. However, this type of GPU may yield lower rewards since it can run only a limited number of models. We recommend using a 3080 or higher-spec GPU to become a computing node, as the earnings for computing nodes in the shard consist of three parts:
Online Mining Rewards + Task Mining Rewards + Computing Service Fees
If a computing node participating in the shard is unable to complete model tasks, it will lose the latter two rewards.
About TOP AI Network
Established in 2018, TOP AI Network (formerly TOP Network) focuses on serving a broad user base, delivering a high-demand user experience, and supporting large-scale, cost-sensitive businesses. Aiming to be the blockchain infrastructure for DePIN with AI computing power, it supports Web3.0, DePIN, and gaming sectors requiring high transaction throughput, speed, low fees, and excellent user experience.
TOP Chain employs sharding technology and a three-layer network to deliver a powerful blockchain with low costs, low entry barriers, and high throughput, effectively meeting real-time performance needs, especially for AI businesses.
