How did you find out about Tophatter?
Actually through someone that asked me to bid for them. My friend asked if I could look at some of the products being listed and get them something they’d like.
I liked the site and thought there might be potential for my business. WOW Wireless as a company was very new then. Our first product listed was a cell phone case — a Galaxy S5 case.
What was your biggest fear or thought before starting a Trial with Tophatter?
I wasn’t actually that fearful of too much. There was a scheduling fee, but it was low. The first time I entered the information for my company, I received a call from Austin shortly after and he explained everything and answered my questions.
And I was like let me give it a try. Since we already had a store on eBay, we wanted to expand into new platforms. We figured we might as well give it a go.
What, specifically, has been your favorite part of starting to sell with Tophatter?
The live bidding! It feels very competitive, and buyers feel like they need to bid on it. Everyone knows what’s happening and they just get caught up in it. They want to win. So it’s great for selling your products quickly.

What’re your top 2 tips for being successful as a seller on Tophatter?
First, if you have a day or week that didn’t go as well as you want, it doesn’t mean you have to find another site. It will work itself out. It corrects itself.
And secondly, variety is key. Variety really matters. At some point when I show new items, people buy like crazy. The same item that used to make me money, people eventually get tired of it. Buyers come back a lot, so they want to see new products.
How exactly do you and your team manage the Tophatter platform?
Before it used to be more complicated and take more time, but with auto-scheduling, so many things take up less time now. Instead of 3–4 people managing Tophatter for us, it’s now 1–2 people. They manage inventory, printing labels, checking feedback, etc. Auto-scheduling has freed up a lot of our time and energy.

What’s the key to deciding what ‘Desired Volume’ to sell on Tophatter?
We do sell on other sites, like eBay and Amazon, but we have stuff that we get for just Tophatter, so our desired volume is whatever we can get just for Tophatter.
If you were to recommend Tophatter to another business, what would you tell them?
Well I would say it’s very exciting. It’s really exciting to give it a try and see how your product performs and sells. You might be surprised by how much your item can sell. It’s a nice experience. Even better than the eBay bids, since it’s live and makes buyers want to bid right away.
