Making Money and Doing Good: Topishare’s Business Model

Over 2 billion people worldwide use social networks in one way or another, and these free services are being profited of by using your information: personal data and online behavior. As user, you don’t really have a choice but to accept the terms and conditions, but it isn’t really a fair system.
At topishare we understand that it is you who makes social networks powerful. Without you, the social networks don’t work. That is why we want to give the power back to the user, but make it work business wise as well.
So, how do we do this?
Kingdoms
Topishare is built on so-called kingdoms. These are groups/threads you can create based on the topics you are interested in. They can be social (fashion, cats, or social innovation), or they can be for your organization or business.
Within these kingdoms, people can share any content that matters to them, start a conversation on one single topic while connecting globally with people who are interested in the same. As user, you are in control on how you see the information in these kingdoms, there is no algorithm deciding this for you.
What this means, is that business and organizations have full organic reach within their own kingdoms, and if you don’t care about their business, you won’t join their kingdom and see irrelevant content to you. The businesses can reach their targeted audience effectively without paying any money for it. As user, you don’t see irrelevant information you don’t care about. If you happen to like a certain company making cat food, you can join their kingdom and follow their updates, but if this is not your cup of tea, you just won’t join.
Well, how does Topishare make money then?
Business, besides posting in their own kingdoms, can pay to advertise in side-boxes at other kingdoms. This is how it works: imagine there’s a company that sells cat food, who wants people with cats to see their ad. Whereas other social networks collect and analyze users’ data to determine who may have or may like cats, at topishare we don’t need to. The advertisement for cat food, can go to the kingdoms that focus on cats. We don’t NEED to gather your personal information, we don’t want to, and we will never do so.
But wait, there’s more.
You, as user, are the reasons social networks are powerful. Which means to us at topishare, that you should be in control.
What this means is that you control the advertisements on topishare (if you want to). The businesses that want to advertise outside of their kingdoms will place their ads in a pool of advertisements. You as user can pick which advertisement you feel fits right in a certain kingdom. When you do this, you will earn 50% of what the advertiser pays to have their ad up on topishare.
Every Kingdom is Your Own Social Network
We want you to comfortably share on topishare and connect globally with people, without seeing stuff you don’t care about, without your privacy being violated, and while being able to share in our profits. It’s a place where you can connect with people on your terms: you can create kingdoms and decide who is allowed to join based on certain characteristics (age, geography, gender, etc), so you can share exactly with whom you want to share.
topishare was created to have a solid, safe, interesting alternative to the current social networks, and we will continue working on making this happen.
