How is a Raven like a Writing Desk? : Bounty Phase One

Topl is working to enable investments in developing markets using the blockchain. We are building a more open global financial system. That’s our end game. Topl uses Scala for our blockchain, JavaScript for our smart contracts, and Solidity to implement side-chaining to bring Ether onto our platform. We are super excited about the technology we are manipulating and the impact that it will have.

We’ve always been open. We’ve always wanted collaboration and participation, as evidenced by the open access that you have to our source code and our testnet.

Right now, though, we need people to start thinking about us and what we’re doing. We need you and many more to start getting pumped about our solution and the possibilities for which it allows.

This is where you come in. We want your help in getting people hyped.

First, what’s a bounty?

When you hear the word ‘bounty’, if you think of the Wild West or Dog the Bounty Hunter, you may be surprised to know that you’re right on track.

A bounty campaign is an offer for individuals to help companies and startups in a variety of areas — ranging from software engineering and bug reporting, to marketing and post sharing — in exchange for a portion of the company’s tokens. Typically, they allocate between .5–1% of their tokens for bounty programs.

You are a bounty hunter. The task is the bad guy on the wanted post hanging outside the saloon. The bounty is the tokens you earn by completing specified tasks.

Many startups lack liquidity in their beginning stages, so they use bounty programs to boost resources. In addition, these programs can also serve to build a community around the company or project. We want to use it to interact with you guys in a fun and non-formal way, and because we value contributions as an open source project.

Social Media Bounty — Phase 1

We want you to make posts. They should essentially be riddles, depicting any two things that people wouldn’t typically associate with one another. Like a raven and a writing desk.

Seems a little random. We know. But part of the great thing about the blockchain space is the desire to push boundaries. We want to you draw these associations and crazy-seeming parallels to open your mind a little bit as well as the minds of those who will see your posts. It’s supposed to be a little brain-bending and unobvious. When you post, you’re helping to pave the way for people to be more open to unexpected connections.

The thing is: we’re working on something that integrates a few unobviosuly connected ideas. It’s a kind of a “secret” for now. Don’t worry; we promise to let you in on it, later. Your posts will help people to see that, although associations aren’t immediately apparent, they can sometimes be found in the unlikeliest of places.

Tag us in your posts on Facebook and Instagram. We’ll be posting “riddles” of our own too!
