Embarking on a whirlwind six-week journey through the vibrant cityscapes of India and the bustling streets of Vietnam, our team set out this past summer to empower developers with new knowledge and skills for building in web3. Armed with laptops, event banners, and an endless supply of Topl t-shirts, we conducted a series of developer workshops across four cities in these two fast-growing Asian crypto markets.

From the busy tech hubs of Bangalore to the cozy co-working spaces of Delhi and Hyderbad, developers honed their smart contract capabilities while extending us a warm welcome to the Indian web3 community. Landing a few weeks later in Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City’s relentless energy served as the perfect backdrop to collaborative coding sessions.

Throughout this journey, we witnessed the power of mutual respect in community building and, inherently, the need to align incentives between a protocol’s core team and its broader ecosystem.

That’s why we’re thrilled to be launching our Community Bounty Program in December of 2023! We will post all Topl bounty opportunities to our Dework space.

This represents a great opportunity for writers, content creators, product professionals, tokenomics wonks, impact enthusiasts, and, of course, engineers to find a place in Topl Thunder’s vision of bringing a more intuitive, user-first experience to Bitcoin. As Topl gets closer to both the public launch of our main net (testnets are live!) and to our Bitcoin bridge in 2024, we’re inviting the insights and assistance of the crowd.

We recognize that builders understand their own needs better than we can. That’s why we’re offering a diverse range of bounties to create a vital feedback cycle, allowing us to learn directly from the community and improve our platform in meaningful ways.

You can listen to the recording of our December Community Call for more context on the announcement.

Overall, we hope to achieve the following objectives with the bounty program… 🚀

  • Boosting Community Engagement: We’re excited to drive more community involvement in the Topl ecosystem. This includes listing tasks for completion and reward, open to everyone, and reviewed by our team and future moderators.
  • Empowering Collaborators: Whether you’re a developer, a creative mind, or just love to build and think, our platform is your stage. Come help us enhance the Thunder protocol and our ecosystem in a welcoming, safe space.
  • Drive Network Improvement: We’re tapping into the community’s awesome skills not just to find bugs but to uplift the entire network. Everyone can help us make our ecosystem better, safer, and more robust.

Our first bounty, focusing on command-line interface (CLI) feedback, is now live! In January, we’re looking to list at least two more opportunities, which will likely be focused on existing SDK reviews and additions of new SDK language offerings.

We’ve also launched a dedicated Bounty Program section on our Discord. Join us there to stay in the loop with upcoming bounties, fire up your queries, or connect with fellow developers and builders.

Future areas of contribution will include, but are not limited to:

  • Documentation language translation
  • Topl ambassadorship (incorporating Topl into live projects, hackathon projects, recommendations to projects and partners)
  • Content, such as tutorials or blog posts
  • Social media outreach
  • Discord moderation
  • BuildGood DAO membership and contributions
