If we were to talk about daily reports, the first thing that pops up in our mind is work reports. If we work for someone, then the employer wants to know the work done by us. This may give us a feeling of distrust, the feeling of constantly being questioned in spite of the hard work put in.

But what if I were to say, there is another way to look at this? There is a chance that we might be the ones who benefit from this. We have heard and read about so many wise men who have succeeded in life in their respective fields. What is the one thing common among them all? It is their ability to be organized. They did not wait for someone else to question them. They took the task upon themselves. They ensured to question themselves, their actions and their agendas. This is one of the reasons for their success. They managed to ensure that their days were well chalked out. They gave serious thought to the work being done and work needed to be done. And what better method to do this than to pen this down? Black and white always make things more real.

When we write down the work that we have done on any day it makes the hard work all the more real. It will help us analyze our work better and make plans accordingly for the next day. It guides us to correct our mistakes and leads to improvements in our productivity. It might be an obligation at first, but it soon turns into a habit. And believe me, it is a good habit to have. And not just for working professionals, it is beneficial for students as well. As a student, we are taught to make time-tables. Most of us do it out of compulsion and don’t stick to it after a certain period of time. This might be the case because we don’t modify these time-tables from time to time. In order to improve, we need to keep moving forward. We need to keep altering our plans. As students, we should start making reports to keep track of our studies and other activities. Make plans for a day or two and then make reports of what has been achieved and what has been missed. Analyze this and then make further plans.

Make reports not because someone is questioning your actions, but because you want to track your own growth.
