Parkdale

As far west as you can go before things get weird, Parkdale is a hipster neighborhood on the up and up, and truth be told, it’s also kind of weird. Great restaurants, shops and bars can all be found nestled among many family run establishments on Queen west of Dufferin.

Grand Electric — Do you like loud hip hop and delicious tacos? Well then you should stop at Grand Electric for lunch or dinner… really any time. Don’t forget to get some guac and chips, as well as the fancy drinks. They even have a patio in the summer. ¡Salud!
Capital Espresso — A Parkdale staple and a place where people go in the morning to be seen. Located in the former Vice magazine office, Capital Espresso offers what one Rotman student swears is the best Americano in the city.

Future of Francis Watson — This place is the best if you want to dress like you live in Parkdale. Carrying brands such as Libertine-Libertine and Naked & Famous, there is focus on men’s clothing but they also have wonderful women’s stuff. Owner’s Kerry and Meg are total babes and getting married in Vegas in the spring so make sure you say congrats!!
Mezzrow’s — While some people prefer the Rhino, Mezzrow’s is the authentic Parkdale dive bar. Drink pints served by either the sweetest or crustiest bartender (depending on the day) you’ll ever encounter alongside Parkdale regulars. Mezzrow’s is a must go, and if you ever want company, Chris Penney will take you for a pint, as it truly is a bar where everyone knows his name.

Chantecler — You should check out this small restaurant with a very relaxed atmosphere. The dishes are all top notch and the food is a bit experimental. We recommend the lettuce wraps, popcorn shrimp (REAL popcorn) and the fancy wings.
Public Butter — This vintage clothing store is known for great deals and finds. Parkdale is filled with many vintage stores of the clothing and furniture variety, especially as you towards Roncesvalles, but this one is our favourite.

Parts & Labour — Go on Wednesday night for the famous $15 Burger & Pint deal, or on a weekend night and head downstairs to dance and get sweaty in The Shop.
