White Squirrel Coffee — A coffee spot is always on our must-see list, and this cozy spot earns its name from the elusive ‘white squirrels’ that live in nearby Trinity Bellwoods Park.

NadègeThough few patisseries have the ability to live up to “real French pastries”, Nadège surely does. Whether you’re in the mood for a trendy macaron, croissant or sandwich, Nadège is the perfect breakfast, lunch… who are we kidding, any time of the day is a time for delicious fluffy pastry. Just go. You won’t regret it.

Frank & Oak — We are seeing more and more amazing menswear stores opening on Queen Street, and Frank & Oak is the one to beat. Based out of Montreal, this menswear store not only has awesome clothing, it’s super affordable. Plus they’ve got a coffee shop and barber shop right in-store.

Type Books — Yes, bookstores still exist. And in case you forgot, bookstores are awesome. Especially Type Books. Referred to as “your neighbourhood book store”, Type hosts readings, book clubs and unique lectures on a regular basis. Take that Amazon.

Furlough — This newly opened bistro comes from the owners of BarChef, typically known to serve some of the most unique and experimental cocktails. Furlough is a bit of departure from that, described as classic and a great neighbourhood spot you’ll want to come back to. Most importantly their drinks won’t be $25.

MOCCA — The Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art truly represents the level of artistic ability and appreciation felt in this neighbourhood. A unique museum with exhibits not seen at larger galleries like the AGO. And its always free!

Zane — This accessories boutique was started by a former buyer at Holt Renfrew, so it delivers amazing merchandise, but at a way better price point than the high-end chain. Check out home-grown Canadian labels like Mackage and Hoi Bo.

Rotate This — Arguably the best independent record store in the city, Rotate This is a blast from the past, selling an impressive variety of vinyl as well as record players. They also sell concert tickets to pretty much every show in the city — so if you’re looking for concert advice, these are the guys.

Linwood Essentials — In case you haven’t noticed, Toronto loves prohibition-style bars, and this is the newest one to open. We would be tired of the theme if it weren’t for the amazing sounding menu that’s also pretty hilarious. Check out drinks named simply, “Lunch” and the “Artisanal Middle Finger”.
