SHOW REVIEW: Deetron, Dansman & Throe Bday Bash @ Flash
The night started out with an impeccable view from the Cardozo hill in DC, which if you are unfamiliar is the highest point in town and overlooks the entire city from the Capitol to the National Harbor and all the way to Arlington. The proposed original site of the White House, due to the stature this hill has over the city, was just a few blocks over from where we were standing — pretty cool factoid from Philco, that night. We were on this rooftop celebrating local DJs Dansman and Throe’s respective birthdays with some food and drink. This gathering is worth mentioning because not only did it have the view, some of DC’s top local DJs were in attendance playing music via an ultra-portable, rekordbox-ready Pioneer controller and some classic Dell computer speakers. We got sounds from Rush Plus members Jus Nowhere & Jackson Ryland, DJ Nav, Panch, and more…it was a great start to an awesome night.

The birthday boys were on opening duties, so the majority of us left the party and arrived at Flash early (which if you have never made it to the 10PM kickoff of the club level before, give it a go. The crisp, cool air is so inviting and it doesn’t linger long once the party gets going.) I’m very much into the sound that Dansman and Throe provide, very similar tastes to my own, so I was stoked to hear what they had. They were very in sync with each other the whole night and the B2B was very eclectic. They varied genres, sounds, and groove, but not in a jarring way. It was a clean set from start to finish.
To my enjoyment, they played one of my favorite tracks currently, this superb cut from Janeret, entitled “Ether”.
Deetron came on around 1:15AM and played for a couple hours. His catalogue of work is super impressive and he played a few of his tracks and remixes. From a technical standpoint, the guy is an excellent DJ, as is expected from someone of his caliber. I had been pretty excited all week to hear him play and wasn’t disappointed at all. Here are a few tracks from his set:
Throughout the night, Sarah Myers, Mark in the Dark, and C-Dubz were laying down some awesome sounds from the Flash bar, which was being played over the rooftop sound system. I found myself chilling on the roofmultiple times, talking and being pulled down to the bar to hear them play. It would be pretty awesome if Flash installed a couple TVs on the roof with some cameras on the bar DJs. Would provide a cool aesthetic to those up there enjoying the vibes coming from the bar area (or, you know…we just get DJs on the roof…)
My favorite track from all sets during the night would have to be this sweet acid cut from Timothy Blake. Cosmic deep house, check. Acid, check. Jam from start to finish…
Awesome night at Flash as always . Happy birthday (month) to Dansman and Throe! Here are some pictures from their set:

(I wasn’t able to get a good shot of Deetron unfortunately…didn’t realize they came out too dark and blurry)
