Grody (Tracks 1–4)
I have been on a super deep house kick as of late, so no surprise three of my four fit that bill perfectly. But the first, a new track by one of my favorite producers H.O.S.H., is so eclectic it almost has no classification — is it house? is it tech house? It has the perfect amount of spacey sounds, interesting synths, and a perfect groove that I can’t wait to get my hands (and ears) on May 11th.
Crunt (Jake / Tracks 5–7)
My picks for this months are all pretty progressive. One thing they all have in common, though, is an air of hopefulness and triumph. Dramatic, feel-good music, if you will, which is something that will never go out of style.
Crunt (Nick / Tracks 8–10)
In the past I’ve gravitated towards less melodic elements and opted for more rhythmically driven tracks but my tastes are beginning to change and I am falling back in love with more progressive elements.
Tophatty (Tracks 11–14)
Why these tracks? I don’t necessarily listen to electronica outside of clubs and my track discovery process is pretty scattershot these days… these are a few things I’ve been enjoying recently, plus a semi-local band — Ki:Theory from Richmond, VA — that I think deserves more attention.
