Transparency in Office Food: Totem’s New Pricing

We’ve changed our pricing and created a subscription model to make our service affordable, fair, transparent and scalable.

As described in my previous article, 2 years ago we decided to build our product from scratch in order to make Office Cafeterias as affordable, efficient and accessible as possible.

We arrived on a market we didn’t know, with everything left to learn… That’s why we chose the simplest pricing possible, a margin on the food products we were selling.

But we quickly realised that this simple pricing didn’t enable clients to understand the real value we were bringing and therefore, wasn’t allowing us to:

  • improve our level of service. We wanted more delivery options (once a week, twice a week, daily, so the client could pick the best option for them), while also bringing quality to a higher level with our delivery guys installing your totem and putting your new products in place!
  • adjust the type of equipment according to each budget. We want to offer a variety of coffee machines, fridges, water fountains and snacking shelves that can fit each office size and need.
  • create a lasting relationship with a dedicated Account Manager. Most offices are scaling fast, need new equipment, are planning for a new cafeteria in a new office, etc. Having a dedicated Account Manager allows for more flexibility.

Here’s what our 3 new plans look like:

The new pricing allows for a tailor-made cafeteria.

You are the client and we’ll build the unique cafeteria that fits your needs: you choose the frequency of delivery, the different types of equipment needed, the services that you want (fruits, snacks, drinks, etc.), the size of your company… All this keeps your expenses affordable while bringing you awesome quality. You can even have our modular shelves personalized with your logo.

A typical Totem Cafeteria for 150 people including 1 fridge, 2 coffee machines and 5 modular shelves. The equipment costs €500/month for an installation worth €20k.

We created 3 plans to make our service as affordable as possible.

If you can plan for 3 months, we suggest taking the Tipi Plan, which has a 10% discount on products. This represents an annual discount of approximately €5k for a 100-person cafeteria.

By the same token, if you can plan for 12 months, you will get a 20% discount on products. This can be an annual discount of €10k for a 100-person cafeteria.

It also means that Totem will bring you even more value if you decide to make it your One-Stop Shop for Office Food, and with good reason: each additional product category (coffee, fruits, snacks, etc.) will be 20% cheaper than anywhere else!

For €10/week/employee on an annual plan and for each employee, you can have:

  • 3 organic fruits: €1.80/week
  • 3 healthy snacks: €3.00/week
  • 10 local coffees: €1.60/week
  • 3 teas: €0.48/week
  • 2 good drinks: €2.40/week

If you want to compare at the product level by looking at, say, our price for a can of Coke (€0.48/unit) or any other product that we sell vs. other product delivery services, you will see that we are always more affordable than any other supplier.

With the savings you’ll have on products, you’ll be able to benefit from top- quality delivery, equipment and account management.

We created a strong financial structure to offer you great equipment prices:

  • coffee machine from €60/month for 15 employees, up to €180/month for an amazing Jura Giga x8 for 100 employees.

  • Awesome fridge at €30–40/month. TRUE fridges are professional fridges and a top product in the industry.

  • Water fountains for €80/month
Waterlogic fountains allow for fresh, hot or sparkling water
  • Awesome modular snacking shelves, designed by Totem with Samuel Bernier, for €60/month. Everything was specifically conceived for office needs, from the coffee distributor to the hanging banana bar, which prevents other fruits from spoiling due to the ethylene generated by bananas. The shelves are made out of oak, solid metal and Corian to make your cafeteria both attractive, resistant and easy to clean.

Relationships always win out over a buyer/seller sales situation. And the best relationships are the ones that we can maintain. With these 3 plans, you know that Totem will have your back, from 10 all the way up to 1000 employees!

You can start with the basic plan to test our products, then decide to test the Totem Cafeteria experience for 3 months without investing a ton of money. If you’re convinced, switch to a yearly subscription to make the service even cheaper.

We’ve created these 3 plans to show that employee well-being is accessible and affordable. We want to make each step toward a better cafeteria as easy as possible for you.

Every company that chooses a Totem subscription (3-month plan or 12-month plan) will have a dedicated Account Manager to help them scale both their food and equipment needs. Help us improve our service by always giving us real feedback! Your Account Manager can also help you set up a new cafeteria if you move to a new office, or help you decide which products or installations would suit you best.
