Announcing Totem’s token rebrand & our community referral program.
Totem the peer-to-peer accounting protocol building in the Polkadot Ecosystem is announcing two big changes. First, we’re rebranding our network token — formally known as ‘$XTX’ — to ‘$TOTEM’ and secondly, we’ve launched the long awaited community referral program with our most recent Totem Live Application update.
Rebranding
If you’ve recently been testing out our demo app Totem Live you will have seen that the $XTX symbol has been replaced with $TOTEM to align it with our listing on on CoinMarketCap. The name of the token stays the same “Totem Transactions”, and it remains the primary stable-coin & functional currency of the network. This change is in preparation for our MainNet which we plan on launching in 2022.
A crypto-trading token will also be available soon™ and will be associated with our Polkadot Parachain Funding Module which we are currently working on. Stay tuned.
Referral Program
Another important milestone on the road to MainNet is our efforts to grow the community of early adopters who will be rewarded as liquidity providers in public product on MainNet. We want the community to own the Totem Network and our motivation is to engage as many early adopters as possible for their benefit as custodians of our future network. Part of that process is giving away our network currency today, so we are very excited to announce a user referral program is now available in the app.
New users, referrers and referees will all receive $TOTEM tokens as part of the program and every new user gets the chance to earn more tokens when they refer friends and family. Sharing is caring, the more you share Totem Live, the more $TOTEM you receive — this is your opportunity to get in early. Importantly there are no limits to sharing, but the rewards will start to reduce over time — so getting in early means you receive more rewards.
How it works
In your Totem Live app, you’ll see a referral module in the “Getting Started” section. This gives you a unique referral link. All you have to do is share the link with friends and family to receive an initial allocation of $TOTEM. If you follow some other steps — including tweeting and following, you’ll receive a bigger bonus too.
- Sign-up at https://totem.live — you receive 108,154 $TOTEM to get you started.
- You refer a new user: both of you receive a 432,619 $TOTEM bonus.
- You post about Totem on Twitter using the special tweet button and follow you get a bonus amount of 1,081,548 $TOTEM
