SpyCamp for Orange employees: Teambuilding on a whole new level

Imagine that you would have to take courage during a teambuilding event and go into the search for a treasure that someone stole and hid in Banská Štiavnica. Employees of Orange Slovensko had no choice.

How did our work on SpyCamp start?

Approximately two years ago, the event agency MONARCH, a.s. addressed us with a clear vision — to prepare something playful and engaging for the client Orange Slovakia. And so we have started developing an interactive application using iBeacon technology — SpyCamp. In the app, every user has to choose a team and complete several missions. The goal is to find the treasure before the others.

How does this app work?

It is based on the fact that as the player moves and passes through the city, the app receives a signal from the nearest iBeacon and sends a notification to the mobile device about the task the player has to do. Imagine that you are crossing the city and looking for help to bring you to the treasure.

What obstacles did we have to conquer?

The iBeacon testing was the most challenging, because it has a reach of a few meters only. So, we had to find the right places and exclude the ones where the signal would not be reachable by the app. Thanks to this project, we have verified the real use of iBeacon and tested it in Banská Štiavnica.
