Candidates interviewing for venture capital positions at Touchdown often ask me why I joined our company. The answer for me is the people and culture.

My colleagues at Touchdown are smart and hard-working — that’s pretty much table stakes in this industry. But our team is so much more than that, they are responsible, genuine, caring, humble, and empathetic. I’ve seen our team’s focus on constant learning and openness to different perspectives, including how we work with our corporate partners and start-up founders. All of these qualities were reflected in our firm-wide response to racial inequality, with our entire company having committed to contribute to do our part to end racial inequality in America through long-term, sustained action.

Touchdown’s founders have intentionally built an inclusive culture to incorporate perspectives from the entire firm, no matter the individual’s role, title, background, or tenure. As a result, values like impact, accountability, teamwork, and growth resonate in our day-to-day activities, and go beyond being words on paper.

The senior leadership of our firm, not just the founding team, emphasizes long-term thinking and a hands-on commitment to growing of our team through opportunities for responsibility and concrete skill acquisition. We are truly committed to training the next generation of venture capitalists by taking a hands on approach to teaching the craft of this business, both inside and outside our firm. We strive to maximize mentorship and apprenticeship — with a thorough onboarding process featuring more than a dozen modules on best practices of corporate venture, objective professional development rubrics to help our team earn promotions, weekly training sessions, and a formal mentorship program.

Today, we are grateful to be able to celebrate Touchdown’s people and culture by announcing the following promotions:

Mike Devlin — Principal

Rahul Daryanani — Senior Associate

Matt Granato — Associate

Louie Luong — Senior Associate

Sam McMeley — Associate

Jen Sieber — Senior Associate

Please join us in congratulating Mike, Rahul, Matt, Louie, Sam and Jen.
