The narrative in the photo shows how the name came about and this park truly is majestic.

The dramatic formations we see today were over 300 million years in the making from the time the whole area was an inland sea.

Drive through the park until you find an open parking space and then, if able, take a walk along some of the many trails. Take it slow as you’ll be about 6,000’ above sea level.

Take a picnic lunch if you like but stay on the trail or at a designated area. You don’t want to arouse any rattlesnakes!

If you’re lucky you might spot a rock climber!

As I’m watching the closing ceremony of the Olympics I’ll also mention the Olympics Museum which is a short drive away. It’s a good place to spend a couple of hours.

Say hi to my friend if you go and watch your fingers!

I write about curious things and things I'm curious about. I live in Japan, but I often travel so I don’t limit my writing to just Japan / Japanese stuff.
