LKY: The Experience Part II
His Personal Life
For those not residing in Singapore. LKY stands for Lee Kwan Yew. He was Singapore’s first Prime Minister, serving from 1959 to 1990. He transformed the country into a modern, prosperous nation, implementing policies that drove economic growth, improved living standards, and maintained social harmony.
In an earlier story, I shared my visit to some of the rooms in the LKY: The Experience exhibition. Let’s continue this tour and explore the remaining rooms.
Several rooms focus on Lee Kuan Yew’s relationship with Kwa Geok Choo, who later became Mrs. Lee. Her importance in his life is shown in the rooms dedicated to their time together.
One of the most popular photo spots is a replica of Mr. Lee Kuan Yew’s car, set against a nature-inspired backdrop in the ‘BLOSSOMING ROMANCE’ zone.
The car is built from many pieces and looks just like the original model. When I was there, many visitors waited in line to take pictures with the car, and some even got inside since there were no security or barriers to stop them.
