When it comes to onboarding and welcoming new team members at the TourRadar Vienna HQ, ensuring our talent feel welcome and confident from their first moment is our primary goal.

We want all new talent to have the tools, confidence, and support to settle in successfully to their new role and lives in Vienna. Making you feel welcome and comfortable in the city, not just the office, is at the heart of everything we do.

The vast majority of our team, from our CEO through to our customer support team, have been through the upheaval of moving to a new country and know first-hand the struggles and stress that can come along with such a big change.

Thankfully, we also know the ingredients needed to make the move as seamless and successful as possible.

Here are just some of the ways we support our team members who are coming to Vienna to develop their career and lifestyle in a new city.

1) Expert Visa Support

If you are the right person for the job, we will provide you with hands-on visa support to get the legal permission to live and work in Vienna. We also take into account and advise on the requirements for any partners or children who may be joining you in moving to Vienna.

Our in-house visa support experts will have tailor-made advice for your personal situation to ensure your visa application goes as smoothly as possible, with minimal headaches on your side.

Once you receive your visa, they are also there to help with any additional paperwork, renewals, and ongoing communication with the visa department of Austria.

By setting this up early, you can easily transfer funds, submit your salary paperwork and have access to withdraw cash in Austria without hefty international withdrawal and conversion fees from your home bank.

Erste Bank offers all their services online in English, so you can manage your finances with confidence, and their handy George app lets you track and manage your spend and create simple reports on-the-go.

Aside from banking setup, our People team is also there to assist in any other paperwork that goes along with an international move and help you in translating any official documents you receive in German.

4) Welcome Buddy in Office

Turning up to a new, cool office for your first day can be intimidating. We’ve all been nervous newbies stressed if our ‘ first-day’ outfit hits the right mix of professional but casual, right?

And sure your boss will talk you through the important stuff — but who will explain where to get the wifi password, what’s the best lunch spot nearby, and, crucially, how to use the coffee machine?!

We make sure that every new team member has an office buddy — someone you can turn to for all the basic questions and who will guide you through office lingo, perks, and silly jokes. 6) Free German Classes

We make the challenge of learning German easier by sponsoring weekly group classes for levels A1 — B1 so you can more easily adapt to the local language.

The advantage of having free classes in the office means you don’t have to worry about the additional costs or complications of getting to class on time. Plus, you’ll be learning with fellow teammates who will keep you motivated to sprechen sie Deutsch. You’ll be ordering your strudel and schnapps like a local in no time.

8) Fun Events to Meet the Team

Though you’ll have plenty of time to speak with teammates in the office, there’s nothing better than a team outing to really connect with your colleagues.

Every month, we host an all-hands team outing that is free to attend for all TR team members, organised by our monthly volunteer ‘Chief Fun Officers.’ From pasta making nights, family picnic days, Halloween celebrations, cake making contests and more, these monthly events are a great way to meet and mingle with people at TourRadar and build your community in Vienna.

These events are on top of our regular ad-hoc BBQs on the terrace, department lunches and weekends away where you can explore the countryside of Austria and beyond to nearby Budapest, Prague, or Bratislava with teammates.
