Does Donald Trump Want to Destroy The US Economy?
And even the world economy?
As a Canadian, I’ve always admired the United States. I haven’t traveled there much except to Washington State when I was a kid. We have a lot of American tourists coming to Canada, and they are always fun to talk to. Americans tend to be nice people.
The current American President?

Tarrif Madness
Despite America’s problems, it’s accomplished a lot of things. In 2025, I’m not sure what America wants to accomplish. This weekend, the 1st of February, punishing tariffs are set to take place unless there’s some miracle at the last minute.
I don’t see that happening. For the record I’m not fond of the current Canadian government, a lot of people here aren’t, but tariffs will crush not only the economy of the United States, but Canada as well.
Trade between our two countries is beneficial for both. Those trades strengthen not only the US economy but also the economy of Canada. Trade helps provide jobs as companies make more money through selling their excess goods to a buyer. Without a buyer, companies lose money and are forced to cut back.
Both countries are still struggling with the long-term impacts of COVID-19, but there's been recovery and even and even growth. Now?

I buy things from the United States. I like American companies. Now, I won’t buy anything American thanks to one idiot who doesn’t understand economics. Most people I know are saying no to US products. Tariffs will trickle down and those costs have to be added on at some point which means both Canadians and Americans will pay more.
Do both countries plan to ramp up their production? Manufacturing bases are not that strong in Canada and the United States, at least not the powerhouses they used to be. We even sell our oil to the US at a discount.
What if other countries that import American goods tell the current administration to pound sand?
Canada is securing its border and we have a new election soon, but tariffs at this point are a stupid move that will hurt both countries.
Donald Trump was elected to Make America Great Again, What does that mean exactly? Does it include alienating every other country on earth? America, the land of isolationists? What?
America is currently doing a FINE job at that.
