I woke up this morning to the shocking news that outgoing US President, Joe Biden pardoned his son, Hunter despite previously ruling it out. More precisely, after repeatedly ruling it out, both himself and through White House Press Secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre.
If you detected a hint of sarcasm in that opening paragraph, well spotted. Now on to my question, who out there is surprised by this?
No, seriously, aside from the pearl-clutching and pseudo-outrage, what sentient being out there is surprised that a father, with the opportunity and means to do so, threw his kid a lifeline?
And what sane person is rendered speechless at the thought of a politician saying one thing and doing another? Come on, there are reasons politicians have the less-than-sterling reputation they have and being totally and completely full of it is right up there.
So, the recovering addict gets a pass from Daddy? And? So what? Do I agree with it? Yes and no.
