From the Desert, to the Ocean, and into the Pines

Guillaume Chiron, Extrusion (2018), collage, paint, epoxy resin

With most folks tuning in from their own screens these days, artists have turned up the creativity by choosing unique, remote venues to perform in. No one has decided to play on the International Space Station (yet), but we’re sure these upcoming shows in February will be nothing short of extraordinary.

First up we have a concert film series live from the Mohave Desert with performances from Nebula (February 6th) and Spirit Mother (February 20th) among other artists continuing into March. Inspired by Pink Floyd’s Live at Pompeii, these concert films will turn your living room into a psychedelic rock n’ roll happening. Set against the California wilderness, deep in the winding sands and towering boulders, this is the perfect venue to appreciate the otherworldly rock heroes of the California Desert Rock scene.

To prepare for rad music, good times, and other psychedelic, weirdo content, we think a drink is in order. The Prickly Pear is a fun spin on margarita made for the desert. Chips & salsa (& guac!) are the perfect appetizer accompaniment. Grab a couch, turn it up and hang on man! The shows are sure to be a trippy, fun time.

Magic Giant: On The Pacific

If you’re searching for an oasis after wandering the desert, join Magic Giant on February 13th, live from a boat in the Pacific. A dynamic blend of alt-rock meets pop wrapped in a festive, down to earth package, Magic Giant’s sound is set to make waves. No one’s quite sure exactly how this is going to go, but when Magic Giant hits the stage, from a boat in the middle of the ocean, anything can happen.

Sea Breeze cocktail for the Magic Giant: On The Pacific concert

Sip on a Sea Breeze, snack on some mixed nuts or a fruit salad to pair and set sail for the unexpected.

Lord Huron: Alive From Whispering Pines

After your ocean voyage, venture back to land with a special performance by Lord Huron. Deep in the night, broadcasting from way out there, Alive From Whispering Pines is the musical experience featuring intimate performances of old favorites, deep cuts and new twists on long lost classic. If you could use a few laughs and a couple songs, join Lord Huron for an exciting new set of musical hallucinations and audiovisual wonders beamed straight to your home. If this sounds like your jam, don’t miss these shows on February 18th, March 18th and April 15th.

We think the perfect drink to vibe out with Lord Huron would be a nice brew. Support your local breweries in town and order up something seasonal. Our local businesses could use our support more than ever right now.

Whichever show, or shows, you choose, we hope these experiences will add a little more groove to your step this month!
