Van Gogh Alive: The Must-See Multi-Sensory Experience
By Ella Gotsch
Immersive experiences are gaining traction in the art scene, and for good reason, but I have never attended one that has impressed me as much as the Van Gogh Alive exhibit. If you’re in the mood for an untraditional museum visit, this should be the first item on your bucket list. Examine Van Gogh’s life and paintings through an exhibition experience projecting his art onto the walls, ceilings, and floors of the different rooms.
Once we entered the Hangar at Stanley Marketplace, we were immediately transported to Van Gogh’s “bedroom”. We were immersed in the world of Van Gogh’s art, seemingly able to walk right through the paintings. The part I enjoyed the most was the fact that they had a beautiful musical score playing throughout the exhibit that nicely paired with the emotions he was experiencing at the time. It was a truly interactive, intimate experience. Seeing an artist’s work in this new way was an unforgettable experience for my boyfriend and me- I’m so happy I found this event on the new Towwn mobile app!
On our way out, there was a surprise sunflower room with flowers galore and mirrors, creating the illusion that we were in a never-ending, magnificent field.
Pictures and videos will only do this amazing exhibit so much justice, so make sure you go experience it yourself — plus invite a friend using the Towwn app’s Contact list feature. But hurry, Van Gogh Alive is open through September 26 and several dates are sold out.
