Toyota AI Ventures Talent Network Featured Jobs: Parallel Domain Is Growing Its Software Engineering Team
Our portfolio company Parallel Domain is this week’s featured startup in the Toyota AI Ventures Talent Network. Founded in 2017, the Palo Alto, CA-based company offers autonomous vehicle (AV) developers a data generation platform for training and testing autonomous systems.

The company is hiring highly-driven programmers to join its software engineering team.

Software Engineer: Generalist software engineers who want to build exciting, dynamic virtual worlds will be happy to learn that Parallel Domain has a current opening on its software team. It’s a great opportunity for individuals who are ready to jump in and solve a variety of software problems.
In this role, you would contribute directly to the core Parallel Domain software infrastructure and architect data pipelines for the large sets of geographic data that underpin Parallel Domain’s technology. You would be required to maintain the build & release process, as well as establish unit & regression testing methodology and assist with building simulation components, such as dynamic agent behaviors and vehicle sensor modules.
Parallel Domain is looking for engineers with 1–3 years of professional experience and a background in C++ or Python. The team would also prefer if you have strong 3D math and graphic skills, as well as experience with geographic coordinate systems, though that’s not a strict requirement.
Senior Software Engineer: In addition to generalist engineers, Parallel Domain is also looking for senior-level professionals to help implement its core 2D and 3D geometry processing functionality. The Senior Software Engineer role is specifically for candidates who are passionate about computational geometry and not afraid to stand up to floating point precision.
In this role, you would contribute heavily to Parallel Domain’s core software infrastructure. You would be responsible for implementation of core geometry library functions, such as raycasting, sampling, scattering, and remeshing. You would also use library functions to translate data sets between discretized and polynomial spline/clothoid representations, and would work together with other team members on solving a variety of software and digital mapping projects.
To qualify, you’ll need at least 3 years of relevant experience and a strong familiarity with Python and C++. Parallel Domain is looking to fill this role with an expert in geometry processing algorithms, mesh processing, curve and surface modelling, and acceleration structures. Collaborative skills and a positive attitude are also key.
While Parallel Domain is open to a variety of engineering backgrounds, strong 3D math skills, experience with 3D graphics, and development of massively parallel software are preferred.
