Founded in 2017 and based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Toyota Ventures is on a mission to discover what’s next for Toyota by helping early-stage startups bring ground-breaking technologies and business models to market quickly. We recently announced a significant milestone with a new name, an expanded investment thesis, and the addition of $300M across two funds for a total of $500M assets under management.

Through the Toyota Ventures Frontier Fund, we invest in early-stage startups developing technologies in the areas of artificial intelligence, robotics, mobility, autonomy, cloud, smart cities, digital health, fintech, energy, and materials. In addition, we invest in startups with scalable solutions for carbon neutrality through the Toyota Ventures Climate Fund.

VC Analyst, Frontier Fund; VC Associate, Climate Fund; VC Associate, Climate Fund (San Francisco Bay Area)

We are hiring a VC analyst for both the Frontier Fund and the Climate Fund, as well as a VC associate for the Climate Fund. In these roles, candidates will analyze the latest industry trends and source and screen potential companies in the relevant sectors. You will also take part in due diligence, market analysis, and industry deep dives. Other responsibilities include networking and participating in industry and venture capital events and organizations.

Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in a related field and several years of relevant work experience, with an understanding of industry trends. You should be entrepreneurial and well-networked, and experience in venture capital, private equity, or other investment firms is a plus. You should also have strong communication and research skills and analytical proficiency in Google Docs or Excel.

Communications Manager (San Francisco Bay Area)

Reporting directly to the managing partner, the communications manager will work closely with the director of marketing and events and other team members on a variety of projects. These include drafting copy and coordinating layouts for monthly newsletters, quarterly reports, and other materials. Other responsibilities include assisting with planning for meetings and events, maintaining events and media databases, and helping track and report on fund-of-fund investments.

The ideal candidate has strong writing skills, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. You should have a bachelor’s degree in business, communications, or a related field, and at least three years of experience in a related operations, marketing/PR, or administrative role. You will also need to be proficient with Google Suite, MS Office, Mailchimp (or a similar email program), Slack, Twitter, LinkedIn, and CRM and project management tools. Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail are essential, and experience working in VC or with startups is a plus.
