Based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Toyota Ventures portfolio company May Mobility is transforming cities with its autonomous vehicle shuttle service, moving people safely, easily, and with a lot more fun. The fleet includes hybrid-electric Lexus RX 450h vehicles and wheelchair-accessible Polaris GEM vehicles, all equipped with May Mobility’s autonomous driving technology. The service has launched in a number of cities, including Grand Rapids, Michigan; Indianapolis, Indiana; Arlington, Texas; Hiroshima, Japan; and others. This month, May Mobility will be launching service in Ann Arbor, linking Kerrytown to downtown Ann Arbor and the University of Michigan.

Robotics Operations Engineering Manager (Ann Arbor, MI)

In this role, you will provide technical, organizational, and administrative leadership in core operational aspects of the autonomy engineering team. Reporting to the vice president of autonomy engineering, you will be responsible for contributing, leading, and managing efforts to maintain and improve the autonomy aspects of operating vehicles at customer sites. This includes overseeing implementation of solutions for autonomy software stack challenges and supporting the validation of software deployed to all sites. You will be leading and mentoring a team of robotics operations engineers, tracking team performance, and achieving hiring and retention goals. Strong communication and analytical skills are a must.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in computer science, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related engineering discipline (master’s degree or doctorate is a plus). At least five years of experience developing and/or managing technical development within the autonomous vehicle technology industry is needed, as well as a proven track record leading teams. You should also have experience with software development in Linux, and tools such as git, valgrind, and gdb. This is a hybrid role that comes into May Mobility’s headquarters or sites on an agreed-upon cadence based upon the role’s requirements. Traveling up to 20% of the time is expected.

Senior Product Manager — Autonomy Features (Ann Arbor, MI)

The senior product manager is responsible for defining product feature visions and strategies for autonomous vehicle features and working with cross-functional teams to execute these plans. This role involves working with customers, internal teams, and leveraging market intelligence to create and launch the product strategy. You need to be a domain expert on your features, which should benefit the customer, enable solutions, and create a compelling competitive advantage.

You should have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, in addition to at least five years of experience in engineering, user experience, or a customer-facing role focused on software and/or hardware. You should have prior experience in leading a cross-functional team. Experience with autonomous vehicles, machine learning, robotics, data analytics, IoT or mobile applications, or transportation-as-a-service is a plus. This role is a hybrid role based out of the Ann Arbor office.
