We’re excited to announce that we’re exploring a new Tezos-based platform for municipal art that enables citizens and art collectors in local communities and around the world to engage with city art collections in innovative ways. The platform, which is still under development, is intended to be piloted by the city of Reno, Nevada and was developed in conjunction with Mayor Hillary Schieve.

We envision the platform as a globally-accessible destination for all citizens, visitors, artists, and collectors, to engage with and collect digital public artworks, and experience the artistic and cultural history of the cities they represent.

I am excited for the opportunity to partner with TQ Tezos on creating the first NFT art project by and for a City,” said Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve. “My goal is to expand this project to The US Conference of Mayors to create opportunities in other cities for producing digital art and building new civic platforms using blockchain technology. I believe partnering with TQ Tezos will demonstrate an entirely new path for cities, artists, and technology to merge into an exciting new world for cities and their residents.”

This platform is specifically designed for municipalities so that cities can experiment with blockchain-based services seamlessly and without disrupting existing public systems. Rather than requiring a wholesale change to the way city governments provide services, which is a complex process that can take years, we’re providing an innovative mechanism for governments to trial Tezos in the near term for a specific use case.

As we build out the platform, we hope to work with more cities across the country to provide an experience for citizens and visitors to support the communities and public spaces they love as they recover from the pandemic. TQ Tezos will keep the community updated as the project moves forward.
