Collage Vs. High school track (synthesis)
Track at the high school level is very different then at the college level. While running in a high school varsity meet even a varsity state meet is nothing compared to college level track. Collage track is extremely competitive and mostly everyone is good when competing in collage, this is because collages can recruit their athletes that way, they are ensured the best of the best. Most public high schools cannot recruit their athletes so some schools could have some of the best athletes but also some of the worse athletes. In high school track athletes train for about six to seven hours a week not counting meets which sometime take up to five or six hours. Collage level athletes train for about “…be training an average of 12–18 hours a week depending on your event.” (Track Star USA). High school athletes are also in school for a lot longer, this is because they are training a lot more than high school students. Most High school athletes go to school for about seven hours a day. Collage athletes go to school for “…around 3–5 hours per week.” (Track Star USA) this is because of their tremendous amount of time spent on training. To be able to run collage track you must be the best of the best. Track is a great sport for everyone whether that be in collage or high school!
