Top Performer

In school, we’re trained to constantly seek approval from our teachers. Our futures hang in the balance of GPAs and recommendations. A sports performance PhD once told me, though, “No top performer ever waited on the approval of another person.” After you graduate, you have to retrain your mind to stop constantly seeking approval. Your future is now in your control.

If top performers met just the minimum of someone else’s expectations, they would never break records. As an entrepreneur, you have to find the same mindset.

Write down the biggest goals and vision you have for your company. Once you have that down, think of what you need to do to meet your most aspirational goals. Block out the expectations others have set for you and instead think through how you can break your industry’s records.
