What Hurts
by Ayesha Aggarwal
Ernest Hemingway once said ….
write hard and clear about what hurts…
and so it goes…
What hurts is a life full of misery
What hurts is an angel-less sky
The vilified earth, the scorned splashes
What hurts is the price of the dreams
The lone warrior, castaway fighting a solitary battle
What hurts are the unheard prayers
A lonely preacher by the candlelight
What hurts are the unending wars
The hell wreathed human lives
What hurts are the tears in the eyes
The heart-wrenching pain of the broken heart
What hurts is not the fear abound
But the fear within
What hurts is the looming shadows ‘round the corner
The scared steps scurrying fast
What hurts is the powerless fists
the scarred palms
What hurts is a life full of misery
but,
What gives hope is a single beating heart.
