1) Be Transparent

This involves being realistic as well as open with people.

We’re all disruptors here trying to do something not a lot of people can do 🚀🚀🚀

So, be clear to your audience about what you’re doing, why you’re doing it, and how you feel about it.

Humans like to work with other humans at the end of the day 🤖

2) Be Authentic

People want to see what’s behind the Instagram filter and the fake displays of success.

It’s why I haven’t made one of those fake Facebook Ads with me in front of a helicopter promising I can teach you how to make millions 🚁

I’m not going to name any names …..

You know who they are.

(Referring back to my helicopter story in NY, I’ve been pretty clear that the helicopter wasn’t mine. Sure as hell got to ride in it though 😆)

Just be real with people and they’ll be real with you.

Tell your audience about the days you’ve been killing it.

Tell them about the days the shit hit the fan.

Honesty works. Fact.

3) Don’t Be Afraid To Call Out Hypocrisy where you see it

This is a prickly one 🌵🌵🌵

You DON’T want to alienate anyone who you could potentially partner with,

however calling out things about a market you don’t like WITHOUT naming any names is a lot more classy.

Your audience will appreciate you calling out the bullshit, but will see it as cheap and bitchy if you start naming any names.

Leave that nonsense for people who enjoy shouting from the touchlines without ever getting onto the playing field.

4) Be Unique

It’s not as difficult as it sounds.

I mean, we’re all different inside and out. We’ve all got different backgrounds, styles, dress sense, music taste etc. So use it to your advantage!

Going back to my first two points, if you’re both AUTHENTIC and TRANSPARENT, your natural uniqueness should shine through 🌟

You special unicorn 🦄

So if you’ve got something particularly unique about yourselves, use it!

5) Be prepared to do something no one has done before.

Now after being the transparent, unique business ninja’s you are, you’re going to have to do some things that are the complete opposite to conventional branding knowledge.

Things like sales and hiring have all become a science now.

There are very few opportunities to growth hack these areas of your business.

But areas such as marketing and branding? That’s where we can have a little play 😈

Do something different, think outside the box once in awhile.

(I recently read somewhere that posts without pictures do X2 as well on LinkedIn despite all common sense saying they shouldn’t). So test, test, test. Have fun.

Trust your systems that work, but don’t be afraid to experiment 😉

That’s your lot!

Let me know any branding strategies that work for you! 💣
