…Most people don’t have the guts to do this

It will hurt your ego

But build your business

If you are willing to do it.

I know this works, because I personally help a lot of Copywriters who’re in this situation

For Copywriters just getting started, or those who aren’t confident writing yet,

This method will help you:

  • Build a relationship with great Copywriters
  • Get free help
  • Improve your copy
  • And possibly find a long term mentor

This kind of technique shouldn’t be slimy

It’s a genuine way to get help, and if you’re really lucky you’ll find a Copywriting mentor and/or friend

Copy critique, networking and mentorship are extremely valuable

This way you can get all three

On a single platform

With one simple post

All you need to do is follow these 3 simple steps:

1. First fill your Facebook feed with other Copywriters (ideally 1,000+)

You can do this by joining Copywriting groups

And connecting and interacting with lots of good writers

2. Just ask

Now that you have a relevant audience

You can spark their interest

You can’t just ask for help, you’ve got to offer a good reason for them to help you

And don’t expect much, just ask for a small favour

Something like:

“Hey guys, I’m not sure if my copy is quite good enough before I submit it to my first client. Would anyone be interested in just taking a quick look and telling me if it’s good enough or not?”

Being a Copywriter myself, I’ve helped people who’ve posted statuses like this, often it’s a random spur of the moment type thing. Or maybe they’ve interacted a lot with my profile on social media.

Even though you’re just starting out

Your copy has to be quite good when you are asking for help

Asking this way works

Because it’s such small commitment

And of course only ask for help using a true story

Create a good story about why people should help you

3. Have a real conversation

Once the conversation starts,

You’ll want to develop a real friendship

Thank them for the help, and ask them a couple of short, easy to answer questions

DON’T immediately ask them for more help, just be a normal human being

Find a common ground, something you’re both interested in

And once the conversation stops, stop… (Copywriters are busy people)

If they like you

They will be much more eager to help you in future

You’re not looking to make 10 new Copywriter friends from this post, that’s unrealistic

You’re actually just looking for a little help on one piece of copy you’ve written

And the chances are, if you put yourself out there

1 or 2 Copywriters will be willing to go the extra mile

And you could become good friends

This way you will have a network of people who’re willing to help you build your business

Even if you don’t have much to offer in return yet
