AMO+ seizes nearly 5 tons of cocaine in 4 days
Customs and Border Protection announced that its AMO (Air and Marine Operations) plus some unnamed maritime teams from partner nations seized nearly 5 tons of cocaine in just 4 days.
According to CBP, the 9,652 tons of cocaine seized came from three incidents between October 7 -10.
October 7
On October 7, a P-3 aircrew responded to a report of “a suspicious boat” at an undisclosed location in the Eastern Pacific, CBP reported.
The P-3 crew monitored the boat first then contacted two partner nations maritime crews who responded to the scene.
It’s unclear what happened to the suspects or the boat.
The only thing CBP reported crews finding and getting was “a debris field” with 44 bales of cocaine weighing about 3,364 pounds.
October 9
A different P-3 crew was monitoring a suspect go-fast vessel. AMO contacted a partner nation’s maritime crew to request interdiction.
That team detained three people in an unspecified location and seized 58 bales containing 3,031 pounds of cocaine.
