How Polk County’s biggest fentanyl operation ever snagged Sinaloa dope

--

Grady Judd, Sheriff of Polk County, FL

With kilos of fentanyl off the street and three drug trafficking arrests, Polk County Sheriff’s Office and Florida authorities are celebrating what they’re calling a major victory.

On Halloween, Sheriff Grady Judd announced the single largest seizure of fentanyl in Polk County. Although many drug investigations last a long time, sometimes years, Judd said this one was quick, wrapping up in less than 60 days.

How the deal went down…

The three individuals arrested are Juan Manuel Gutierrez Medina (age 56), Juan Gutierrez Medina Jr. (age 25), and Ruperto Rocha (age 55).

Judd didn’t explain how Polk County police got connected with this trio. He said their investigation started in September.

There was an exchange on September 14th, when Rocha delivered 1 kilo of fentanyl to a Polk County undercover in Bartow. Two days, later, on September 16th, Medina Sr. delivered a kilo of fentanyl and Ruperto showed up with three more kilos.

Judd said these drugs were mixed with meth and stamped into pills. And all of it was fronted.
